As you are aware, the National Education Union (NEU) confirmed back in January that its members will be striking over pay on four separate days in February and March. I am writing to inform you about what this means for the next strike day and how it will impact your child.
Currently, upcoming strikes that will impact our academy are scheduled to take place on the below dates:
- Thursday 2nd March (London, South East, South West)
- Wednesday 15th March (All schools in England and Wales)
- Thursday 16th March (All schools in England and Wales)
Striking is the right of every teacher who is part of a union and is a personal choice, which we respect as an academy and Trust. As the Academy’s Headteacher, it is my primary responsibility to ensure our pupils receive the highest standard of education and care.
The strike will lead to a level of disruption, however I have been working with my leadership team to develop plans to ensure that we are able to minimise this for key groups of pupils. We will write to you before each strike date to clarify which classes may be affected.
On Thursday 2nd March 2023 we will be open only for:
- Year 3
- Year 6
- Other pupils who have been identified by staff to attend school on that day. We will contact parents separately in coming days via MyEd or telephone if this applies to your child.
As mentioned previously, we will continue to communicate with you about the future strike dates and keep you updated on the arrangements.
